Clock Fund
For those who may remember and
for those who don’t remember the CLOCK that Mount Hope once had …. Here’s a
picture.
This
clock was as much or more of a landmark for Mount Hope than perhaps the
Fountain, Lump Of Coal, etc.
For those
of you who remember the CLOCK it was just there and not thought all that much
about because we had it and it was part of Mount Hope. Then the CLOCK was gone, was Mount Hope
beginning to crumble? There was a
noticeable void in Mount Hope’s History.
For those
of you who may not remember the CLOCK, look at the picture and know and realize
that it certainly needs replaced.

Dorado, Class of 1968, Mount Hope High School is being instrumental in bringing
the CLOCK back to the City Of Mount Hope.

I’m Bob
Dorado, Class of 1968, Mount Hope High School.
My family has owned and still operating our business, American Hardware
since 1949.
This is
in regard to the TOWN CLOCK that left Mount Hope in 1973. The CLOCK stood in front of the Old Bank
Building and citizens both past and present are always talking of bringing back
the CLOCK.
The time
has come to take action and buy a NEW CLOCK.
The Mount Hope Lions Club is sponsoring a fund drive to purchase a four
sided Howard Electric Clock. The cost
of the CLOCK, shipping and installation is $25,000. Currently we have raised $5,000 from donations, fund raisers,
breakfasts, raffles, etc.
We are
asking for your help with this project.
A donation of $500.00 or more will put your name on a plaque to be
placed on or near the CLOCK base.
Any donation
will be accepted and appreciated.
There are a lot of exciting
things getting ready to happen in our small town and I hope the CLOCK fund can
be reached by HOMECOMING 2007.
